Overview
In order to create a brand for the Visual Communication Design 16th Annual Poster Show in November, each member of our class was required to create one poster design that they felt best advertised the show and best represented our class and program.
At the end of a few rounds of votes, one poster would be chosen and then branded in order to market and promote for the event.
The Process
I concentrated on crafting visually intricate branding with a playful and distinctive title, "Pressed for Paper," which is a creative twist on "pressed for time." Through experimentation in Adobe Illustrator, I explored a range of variations, aiming to visually represent the slogan in a literal yet playful or comical manner.
As I progressed through drafting various poster variations, the design shifted towards a more imagery-based approach rather than maintaining a strictly typographic one.
Our 16th Annual Poster Show
Pressed for Paper is a isometric tower of words combined with assorted shapes and objects in a cluttered arrangement, symbolizing "Pressed for Paper." The vibrant pink and yellow color scheme bring the poster to life while also, setting it apart from the previous branding.
After a careful selection process from the class and professors, I was extremely grateful to have the opportunity for my poster to represent our class's 16th Annual Poster Show.
The final poster's description reads, "Decompress and join us at the 16th Annual ASU Visual Communication Design Poster Show. Come browse our worldwide selection of posters and get ready to be impressed."
Setting things in motion
After finalizing and selecting the poster, our class's media and marketing team collaborated closely with me to develop diverse collateral and promotional materials, adhering to the poster's visual style as our brand guideline. Here are some draft images of Instagram and Facebook posts that we utilized to promote our event across social media platforms.
