Overview

Single-page websites offer a modern, streamlined approach to web design that prioritizes user experience, engagement, and simplicity. For this project, we worked on our own, individual single page websites aimed at creating an original and unique experience.

Our focus was on showcasing our expertise in website design, including elements such as: hero/footer sections, prototypes, wireframe layouts, and interactive, responsive features, crucial for delivering a consistent, user-friendly experience across multiple devices.

Creating a brand

24/7 is a digital platform dedicated to artistic expression and global collaboration. Users can freely create digital doodles and take notes, which they can then upload for a worldwide audience to view and engage with. At its core, the platform operates 24/7, curated by a diverse group of artists from across the globe who are passionate about showcasing a vast culmination of art. The mission is to exhibit the presence of simple yet observational art through these scribbles drawn around the world.

For the purpose of this website, I hand drew some of the doodles users can view throughout the website.

Building the user experience

In crafting the UX/UI of 24/7, I focused on a seamless and intuitive user experience. Beginning with thorough research into user preferences and industry standards, I created wireframes to map out the layout and flow of content. Interactive elements, such as smooth scrolling and hover effects, were incorporated to engage users and add a dynamic touch. The use of responsive design ensured optimal viewing across various devices.

Regeneratively redesigning

During my last semester of the program, I was given the opportunity to re-evaluate any of my previous projects and improve on it's design. After evaluating 24/7, I found that the website lacks a multitude of sustainable practices. This includes features such as, energy optimization, an eco-friendly hosting provider, efficient coding, etc. My goal was to redesign 24/7 into a website that include the following regenerative features:

  • Eco-friendly web hosting provider that preferably uses renewable energy sources or has a carbon offset program
  • Compressed file formats for images and videos, in order to lower bandwidth consumption
  • Collaborations with non-profit organizations

By implementing these design ideas, I created a refined website that contributes to a more sustainable web presence while still proving a distinguished user experience for visitors and users.
